Michael St. George has been a favourite with Canadian audiences for several years.
Recently St. George has been nominated for Best World Music recording by the judges of the 2006 Toronto Independent Music Awards(TIMA). The dub poet hails from Jamaica but has made Canada his home, establishing himself as a creative force to be reckoned with.
During the past year St. George has been collaborating with wunderkind UK DJ Asif, producing an innovative single called Hey! Hey! D-Compartmentalize-I. Set to release a new album called The Ital Suite, St. George was pleased that the TIMA judges chose Caged In, his favourite track from his last album, Dubbin De Vibes (Passin' Thru Records/Jetstar). The Toronto Independent Music Awards began in 2005 and will take place for their second annual awards event on October 5, 2006 at The Phoenix in Toronto.
